GOP Members Question Medicare Advantage Bonus Program

Law360, New York (July 20, 2012, 4:58 PM EDT) -- A pair of GOP lawmakers Friday opened an inquiry into an $8.3 billion Obama administration program that uses bonus payments to improve private insurance plans under Medicare Advantage, requesting reams of correspondence after independent reports questioned the program’s legality and value.

Reps. Dave Camp. R-Mich., and Wally Herger, R-Calif., are seeking information on the so-called Quality Bonus Demonstration, which would boost payments to Medicare Advantage providers that meet certain performance goals.
