Senate Confirms NJ Magistrate As US District Judge

Law360, New York (July 24, 2012, 4:39 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Senate on Tuesday confirmed Newark-based federal magistrate judge Michael A. Shipp as the next federal district court judge in New Jersey.

In a nearly unanimous vote, Shipp, 46, was chosen to replace U.S. District Judge Mary L. Cooper, who became a senior judge on the federal bench last August. He is expected to be confirmed within days.
