Swiss Regulator Probes Cisco Over Software, Service Bundling

Law360, New York (July 24, 2012, 3:55 PM EDT) -- Switzerland's antitrust regulator has opened an investigation into Multiven GmbH's allegations that Cisco Systems Inc. abused its dominant market position by bundling software updates with its maintenance services, according to the companies.

The Swiss Competition Commission's investigation comes in response to a January complaint filed by Multiven that claimed Cisco provides updates only to customers who buy its SmartNet technical support service, unlike other major companies that make necessary software updates available to all customers who have previously purchased their software.
