Chemical Safety Bill Advances In Senate

Law360, New York (July 25, 2012, 4:50 PM EDT) -- A U.S. Senate committee advanced legislation on Wednesday that would overhaul the nation's decades-old safety regulations for chemicals, though a Democratic amendment meant to broaden the bill's appeal failed to attract Republican votes.

The Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works voted 10-8 along party lines to move S. 847, the Safe Chemicals Act, to the Senate floor.
