Law360, New York (July 25, 2012, 7:29 PM EDT) -- Sony Electronics Inc. lodged a lawsuit Wednesday asking a Delaware federal court to invalidate a patent for digital photography held by Acacia Research Corp., a little over a week after the patent holders hit the electronics giant with an infringement suit in California.
Sony says Acacia's California suit accusing several electronics companies and retailers of stealing the imaging patent represented a “clear and unmistakable threat of litigation,” but that Sony had been improperly joined.
