3M Sues Covington & Burling Over Minn. Representation

Law360, New York (July 25, 2012, 4:31 PM EDT) -- 3M Co. launched a lawsuit Tuesday against its law firm of more than a decade, Covington & Burling LLP, claiming it breached its fiduciary duty when it began representing the state of Minnesota in an environmental suit against the technology company over its fluorochemical business.

3M alleges that the firm ditched it in late December 2010 to begin advising Minnesota in its suit claiming the fluorochemicals are toxic, after having spent years representing 3M on the very same issue and obtaining large amounts of the company's...
