Lawmakers Ask Data Brokers For Answers On Privacy

Law360, New York (July 25, 2012, 2:34 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan group of six U.S. representatives concerned about consumer privacy asked nine major data brokerage companies, including Equifax Inc. and Experian Information Solutions Inc., for information on Tuesday about how they collect, assemble and sell individuals’ information to third parties.

Reps. Edward J. Markey, D-Mass., and Joe Barton, R-Texas, co-chairmen of the Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus, asked the companies for a variety of information related to privacy, transparency and consumer notification, including in the children and teen segments.
