Calif. Judicial Council Sets Aside $1.7B For Trial Courts

Law360, San Diego (July 27, 2012, 10:38 PM EDT) -- Stuck with absorbing $544 million in cuts to the California trial court system following the passage of the state budget last month, the Judicial Council on Friday allocated $1.74 billion in funding for the courts this fiscal year and approved other proposals by a working group.

The Judicial Council, which governs the administration of state courts, agreed with the trial court budget working group's recommendation to provide the state’s 58 trial courts with $1.74 billion in baseline funding, including $3.6 million for nonsheriff security costs....
