Turning The Tables, Boston Scientific Wins Stent Patent Suit Against J&J

Law360, New York (July 4, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Dealing medical device maker Boston Scientific Corp. a bargaining chip in its patent litigation with rival Johnson & Johnson, a federal jury has found that Johnson & Johnson's method for coating its Cypher stent with drugs infringed on a patent held by Boston Scientific.

The jury said that Boston Scientific's Ding patent covering drug coating had been infringed by Cypher and that the basic design of Cypher and Cordis's bare metal Velocity, Sonic and Genesis stents infringed on its Jang patent.
