Covidien Unit Sues Liberty Mutual For Asbestos Coverage

Law360, New York (July 30, 2012, 10:05 PM EDT) -- A subsidiary of medical company Covidien PLC has sued Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., saying in a complaint filed in federal court Thursday that the insurer failed to pay costs associated with asbestos-related suits.

Mallinckrodt US LLC, a St. Louis-based Covidien unit that once used asbestos in equipment made for steel makers, wants a court to order Liberty Mutual to pay defense and other costs associated with asbestos injury suits.
