FDA OKs System That Can Sense When Drugs Are Taken

Law360, New York (July 31, 2012, 8:15 PM EDT) -- A California startup with financial backing from Novartis said Monday it had won U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval to market a digitized pill that can keep better track of a patient's adherence to medications, widely recognized as a major obstacle to improving the quality of care.

Proteus Digital Health Inc. said its ingestible sensor system could improve the ability of patients, especially those with chronic conditions, to take their medications as prescribed.
