PwC Loses Bid To Appeal Order In SmarTalk Case

Law360 (October 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The district court judge overseeing the long-running securities litigation over bankrupt SmarTalk Teleservices Inc. has blocked PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP's attempt to appeal his denial of summary judgment before the trial has concluded.

Judge Edmund Sargus, Jr. on Tuesday denied PwC's request that he approve an interlocutory appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, finding that his ruling on cross motions for summary judgment did not tackle an issue of first impression.
