In Setback For Tech Industry, European Parliament Is Set To Reject Patent Reform Bill

Law360 (July 5, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In yet another setback for protracted and ill-fated efforts to reform Europe’s patent system, the European Parliament is expected to reject a bill Wednesday that would have harmonized software patents across the region.

The conservative European People's Party is expected to decide to reject the proposal in a plenary session vote on Wednesday, siding with a majority block of mostly left-wing parties opposed to the bill, sources said.
