House OKs Bill That Would Fire US Workers With Tax Issues

Law360, New York (August 1, 2012, 9:24 PM EDT) -- The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill that would require the firing of federal employees who fail to pay their taxes.

Besides terminating the employment of current federal employees who have tax delinquency issues, the bill would also bar the federal government from hiring of future employees who have a serious tax debt, according to the legislation’s chief sponsor, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah.
