US Gets Devices To Market Faster Than Europe, Study Shows

Law360, New York (August 2, 2012, 4:22 PM EDT) -- A new study claims that high-risk medical devices often make it to market more quickly in the U.S. than in Europe, undermining an argument from the industry and some lawmakers that the more stringent American process is slowing down device innovation.

The study, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that, on average, high-risk devices took the same amount of time to hit American markets as major European markets, or less.
