Reps. Urge DOE To Speed Up LNG Export Plant Approvals

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 5:56 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan group of 44 federal legislators on Tuesday urged the U.S. Department of Energy to speed up the approval process for the construction of liquefied natural gas export facilities around the U.S., saying the agency’s languor risked damaging the domestic natural gas market.

In a letter to Energy Department Secretary Steven Chu, the representatives said newly accessible natural gas from hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, meant many parts of the U.S. now had their needs served by local gas, resulting in a glut in other states....
