NM Hospital's Ch. 11 Plan Gets Clean Bill Of Health

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 10:14 PM EDT) -- Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center won approval of its Chapter 11 reorganization Tuesday as a New Mexico judge signed off on a plan that removes the danger of lingering malpractice suits and enables the Alamogordo, N.M., hospital to leave the court's protection in good financial health.

The hospital, a 99-bed facility that provides health care to more than 70,000 people, filed for Chapter 11 in August 2011 in an attempt to maintain services while it dealt with a host of malpractice suits filed the previous year....
