Minn. Fights 3M Bid To Remove Covington From Enviro Suit

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 8:39 PM EDT) -- Minnesota Solicitor General Alan Gilbert on Monday fought 3M Co.'s quest to remove Covington & Burling LLP as counsel for the state in dispute over the technology company's alleged contamination of groundwater and part of the Mississippi River.

Gilbert contended in a letter to Minnesota state Judge Deborah Hedlund that 3M's motion was being improperly used as a way for the company to keep the state from conducting certain discovery unrelated to its feud with the firm, and that the loss of Covington would be detrimental...
