Federal Loan Program Will Cover New Nuclear Plants

Law360, New York (October 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The reviving nuclear power industry got some good news Thursday when the federal government released final rules detailing how its loan guarantee program for innovative energy technologies will be governed. The program will cover a wide range of clean energy projects, including advanced nuclear power.

Congress signed off on the loan guarantee program as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, to bolster support for clean-energy power projects that might otherwise have difficulty getting funds.
