Federal Insurance Exchange Is On Track, CMS Head Promises

Law360, New York (August 14, 2012, 4:55 PM EDT) -- A top federal health official said Tuesday that the federal insurance exchange, which will administer the exchange portions of the 2010 health care law in states that do not create a state-based exchange, is still on track to open on time.

Marilyn Tavenner, the acting administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, told a forum of state officials and stakeholders that the federal exchange will be up and running by October 2013, when plans on the exchanges must begin enrolling beneficiaries.
