NRC Steps Up Safety Oversight Of Ala. Nuke Plant

Law360, New York (August 14, 2012, 9:51 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Committee said Tuesday that it would increase oversight of two units of the Browns Ferry nuclear power plant in Alabama, issuing a violation to the Tennessee Valley Authority after finding safety issues at the plant.

The NRC issued the violation after finding low to moderate safety issues at the plant, where one of the three units is already subject to increased oversight after a 2010 inspection resulted in a finding of a rare “red-level” safety issue, much more dire than those discovered...
