Bill To Extend Patents For Pediatric Research Advances In European Parliament

Law360 (July 14, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A committee in the European Parliament has approved a proposal to extend patent protection on some drugs in return for pediatric research, paving the way for approval by the legislative body in September.

The adoption by the European Parliament’s Environment Committee is an important step toward the quick passage of the European Commission’s proposed legislation on patent extension for pediatric testing, the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPA) said.
