Rambus Patent In Hynix Row Invalid, Fed. Circ. Says

Law360, New York (August 15, 2012, 6:48 PM EDT) -- One of the semiconductor patents that Rambus Inc. has asserted against Hynix Semiconductor Inc. in a case that put a spotlight on Rambus' policy of holding "shred days" is invalid because it's anticipated, the Federal Circuit ruled Wednesday.

The appeals court affirmed the results of a re-examination by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, requested by Hynix, that found that the Rambus patent for a synchronous memory device was anticipated by an earlier reference manual published by Intel Corp.
