Macy's Moves To Block Syms' Sale Of Filene's IP

Law360, New York (August 15, 2012, 5:50 PM EDT) -- Macy's Inc. objected Wednesday to bankrupt clothing retailer Syms Corp.'s plan to sell intellectual property assets that include a licensing agreement with Macy's, which holds the trademarks of Syms subsidiary Filene's Basement LLC.

In an objection filed in Delaware bankruptcy court, Macy's said it had not consented to Syms' assumption of the licensing agreement — signed by Macy's predecessor Federated Department Stores Inc. in 1988 — and the sale of it as part of the reorganization plan.
