Covington Rips 3M's Bid To DQ Firm From Minn. Enviro Suit

Law360, New York (August 16, 2012, 6:43 PM EDT) -- Covington & Burling LLP sought Thursday to dismiss 3M Co.'s suit accusing the firm of “switching sides” to represent the state of Minnesota in an environmental dispute over 3M's fluorochemical business, saying the suit fails to establish diversity of citizenship.

Covington said in its motion to dismiss that 3M's attempts to block the firm from suing it after more than a decade of representation are based on a nonexistent conflict of interest and amount to “little more than a press release” intended to pressure the firm...
