Merkel Backs Quick Completion of Canada-EU Trade Pact

Law360, New York (August 16, 2012, 8:27 PM EDT) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday pushed for a quick conclusion to negotiations over a comprehensive free trade agreement between Canada and the European Union, saying the accord will provide a much needed boost to the global economy.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa, Ontario, Merkel called the pending trade pact probably one of the broadest trade agreements that the EU will have ever completed.
