Law360 (October 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Concerns about climate change, national security and pollution have coalesced to make intellectual property an increasingly important issue for energy companies, which have stepped up research and development, as well as patent applications, geared toward creating and protecting technology to tackle these issues, experts say.

This push for technology to help reinvent how the world meets its energy demands has gained enough momentum so that a fundamental shift in how power is provided is now inevitable, although that change won't happen overnight, according to some lawyers....
