Riverbed Infringed De-Duplication Patent: Quantum

Law360 (October 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Data backup technology company Quantum Corp. has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Riverbed Technology Inc. over a patent that prevents data duplication.

The suit, filed by Quantum in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California, alleges infringement of a patent that covers a method of “data de-duplication,” a technology that gets rid of any redundant information before data is stored on a disk or transmitted over a network.
