Alta Ventures Closes $70M Fund As Mexican Startups Heat Up

Law360, New York (August 22, 2012, 6:20 PM EDT) -- Alta Ventures Mexico, the early-stage venture capital firm that trains its investment dollars on Mexican startups, has fully closed its first venture fund at $70 million, the firm said Friday.

The dollars will be funneled toward young technology-based companies headquartered across Mexico in high-growth sectors like mobile, health care, clean technology and education, according to Alta Ventures, which since the fund's initial close in February 2011 has provided a cash infusion to several Mexican startups.
