Pom Ads Need Additional Gov't Oversight, FTC Atty Says

Law360, Washington (August 23, 2012, 11:12 PM EDT) -- A Federal Trade Commission attorney told commissioners during appeals arguments Thursday that Pom Wonderful LLC's future advertising needs additional government oversight in light of an FTC administrative law judge's decision that Pom's ads included false and misleading health claims.

Heather Hippsley of the FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection's Division of Enforcement urged the commissioners to require Pom to ask the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for approval before making treatment or prevention claims about its product in the future, saying the case's record showed Pom needs...
