6th Circ. Nixes Packaging Co. Win In Spousal Benefit Suit

Law360, New York (August 23, 2012, 8:45 PM EDT) -- The Sixth Circuit ruled Wednesday that members of the United Steelworkers who retired from the packaging company Menasha Corp., as well as the retirees' spouses, deserved full, lifetime health care coverage under bargaining agreements struck during the 1990s.

A three-judge panel reversed part of a lower court's split ruling, finding that retirees who were employed in Menasha's Coloma, Mich., plant under two collective bargaining agreements — struck between the steelworkers union and the company in 1994 and 1997 — were entitled to full health insurance coverage...
