Judge Drops RG Steel Affiliate From Air Pollution Suit

Law360, New York (August 24, 2012, 4:10 PM EDT) -- SNA Carbon LLC, a partner in a joint venture with a unit of bankrupt RG Steel LLC that owned a steelmaking facility in West Virginia, cannot be held liable by the U.S. government for alleged environmental damage at the site, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey granted SNA Carbon's July 23 motion to be dismissed from the suit, which also names RG Steel Wheeling LLC and the joint venture — called Mountain State Carbon LLC — as defendants. The government claims...
