EU To Require US Ethanol Producers To Register Imports

Law360, New York (August 24, 2012, 4:40 PM EDT) -- European trade officials on Friday found that the U.S. had been subsidizing bioethanol imported into the European Union and moved to register the imports, but held off on adopting provisional countervailing duties.

During an investigation spurred by a complaint from a European biofuel industry association, the European Commission found the U.S. maintained policies of subsidizing bioethanol production that materially injured domestic producers, but added that those tax credits had since lapsed, according to a notice filed in the EU's Official Journal.
