Mexico Challenges Argentina’s Import Restrictions In WTO

Law360, New York (August 27, 2012, 4:37 PM EDT) -- Mexico on Friday became the latest nation to challenge Argentina's import licensing policies before the World Trade Organization, echoing previous American and European allegations that the Argentine import rules unfairly restrict foreign access to domestic markets.

Mexico is the fourth WTO member to launch formal proceedings against Argentina over the programs, which require importers to preregister and license nearly all imports. The European Union lodged a complaint in May, and the U.S. and Japan filed separate actions last week.
