11th Circ. Revives Harassment Suits Against Collection Cos.

Law360, Philadelphia (August 27, 2012, 9:37 PM EDT) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Monday reversed a lower court's ruling that debt collection agencies' offers of settlements to several people who accused the agencies of harassment had divested the court of jurisdiction to hear the cases.

A three-judge panel found that because the settlement offers were rejected for being insufficient, the claims under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act were still legitimate.
