Chevron, Transocean Lose Bid To Modify Brazil Operating Ban

Law360, New York (August 28, 2012, 4:12 PM EDT) -- A three-judge panel in a Brazilian court on Tuesday rejected a motion from Chevron Corp. and Transocean Ltd. to modify an injunction banning them from continuing operations in the country while the government investigates two oil spills that triggered two $11 billion lawsuits against Chevron.

The panel, which is still considering an interlocutory appeal of the ban, found that the companies' attempt to modify the injunction was not the proper way to get around its restrictions.
