Obama Orders Agencies To Help Boost Energy Efficiency

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 5:28 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama issued an executive order Thursday calling on several federal agencies to encourage investments in energy efficiency by U.S. manufacturers, saying improvements could save as much as $100 billion in energy costs over the next decade and significantly reduce air pollution.

Investments in more efficient manufacturing technologies and processes as well as combined heat and power, or CHP, capacity — which simultaneously produces heat and power, improving efficiency — would help to accelerate a current trend of making U.S. manufacturing facilities more energy efficient...
