Calif. Passes Bill To Limit Depositions To 7 Hours

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 7:34 PM EDT) -- The California Legislature on Wednesday approved a bill that limits depositions in civil cases to seven hours in an effort to spare litigants from marathon questioning sessions.

AB 1875 went to Gov. Jerry Brown after the Assembly passed it on a 52-27 vote. The seven-hour limit applies only to depositions of a witness by anyone other than the witness’ counsel of record.
