EPA Confirms Final Ban On Pesticide AZM

Law360, New York (August 31, 2012, 2:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday reconfirmed its ban on all sales of the pesticide azinphos-methyl, known as AZM, saying its final risk-benefit analysis confirmed the negative health and ecological effects of the chemical.

The EPA said that after considering comments from growers and stakeholders, it would maintain Sept. 30, 2012, as the effective date for cancelation of the remaining uses of AZM on apples, blueberries, sweet and tart cherries, parsley, and pears, though it would allow growers to use existing stocks in their possession...
