Navigators Dodges Coverage of DC Firm Investment Scam Suits

Law360, New York (August 31, 2012, 2:17 PM EDT) -- Navigators Insurance Co. on Tuesday escaped obligations to defend troubled law firm Baylor & Jackson PLLC in six suits for malpractice and misappropriation of assets after a Washington federal judge ruled that such claims were excluded under the policy.

In seeking to avoid indemnification of six suits arising out of an alleged investment scheme run by Baylor, Navigators argued that not only did its professional liability policy with the firm exclude indemnification for misappropriation of assets, but the policy itself was void based on the D.C....
