NZ Appeals Court Backs Watchdog On Cardboard Cartel Case

Law360, New York (August 31, 2012, 5:06 PM EDT) -- A New Zealand appeals court on Friday reinstated several price-fixing claims the country's antitrust watchdog brought against Visy Board Pty Ltd., rejecting arguments the New Zealand courts lacked jurisdiction to hear the bulk of the case against the Australian cardboard packaging manufacturer.

The Court of Appeal of New Zealand overturned an earlier decision from the High Court, which dismissed all but two of the claims the Commerce Commission had brought against Visy after concluding a cartel of Australian packaging companies extended to the New Zealand market....
