Jury Reconsiders $135M Verdict Against Wyeth

Law360, New York (October 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Nevada jury dealt a blow to three breast cancer sufferers on Friday, slashing $100 million off a judgment it had awarded against drug maker Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc. just two days earlier.

The original $134.5 million compensatory damages award was dramatically cut after Judge Robert Perry, having discovered that a portion of the award was intended as punitive damages against Wyeth, instructed the seven-member jury to reconsider the sum.
