Debevoise Reps AIG In $2B Offer Of Asian Unit Shares

Law360, New York (September 6, 2012, 5:27 PM EDT) -- American International Group Inc. will offer Hong Kong investors a $2 billion stake in its Asian insurance unit, it said Thursday, as part of a plan to buy back $5 billion of its own stock from the U.S. government and continue to climb out from its 2008 bailout.

AIG has been selling down its stake in its Asian unit AIA Group Ltd. since taking the company public in October 2010 in an $17.8 billion debut. It will sell 600 million shares in AIA at between HK$25.75...
