Shell Canada To Begin $1.4B Carbon Capture Project

Law360, New York (September 6, 2012, 6:49 PM EDT) -- Royal Dutch Shell PLC's Canadian arm will move forward with plans to build the world's first commercial-scale carbon-capture facility for oil sands development, at a reported cost of CA$1.35 billion (US$1.37 billion), the developer announced Wednesday.

With all necessary federal and provincial regulatory approvals — and CA$865 million of government funding — now in place, Shell Canada Ltd. has made a final investment decision and begun construction on its Quest carbon capture and storage facility in Alberta, Canada, according to a statement from Shell.
