HHS Under Fire For Slow Pace Of Health Exchange Guidance

Law360, New York (September 12, 2012, 7:06 PM EDT) -- Echoing the concerns of many state officials, Pennsylvania’s insurance commissioner Wednesday told Congress the Obama administration has failed to spell out clear guidelines for creation of health exchanges, drawing a rebuke from Democrats who complained of political posturing.

Michael F. Consedine, the Republican head of the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, accused U.S. Health and Human Services of dragging its feet on specifying everything from how income and citizenship will be verified by exchanges to what costs states will face if they don’t run their own exchanges....
