FDA Warns L'Oreal About Skin Care Product Ad Claims

Law360, New York (September 11, 2012, 4:27 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday said it has warned L’Oreal SA unit Lancome USA that Internet advertisements for many of the company’s skin care products give the impression they are drugs, even though they have no such approval.

The claims, made on Lancome’s website, indicate the products are intended to affect the structure or function of the human body, rendering them drugs under the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, the agency says.
