New NRC Head Says Post-Fukushima Safety Measures On Track

Law360, New York (September 12, 2012, 2:08 PM EDT) -- The new head of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Tuesday assured a U.S. Senate committee that the commission has adequate resources and is on schedule to implement new safety guidelines issued in the wake of last year's Fukushima nuclear disaster.

In her first appearance before lawmakers since being confirmed in June, NRC Chairman Allison Macfarlane told the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works that recommendations from the commission's safety task force for near-term action are underway and moving ahead as planned.
