Senate Dems Press FDA To Reassess Energy Drink Safety

Law360, New York (September 12, 2012, 4:03 PM EDT) -- A pair of Democratic U.S. senators pressed the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday to reevaluate its findings on the effects of ingredients in energy drinks as they continue to push for tougher regulations on the drinks.

In a letter to the FDA, Sens. Richard J. Durbin of Illinois and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said the agency still hasn’t adequately addressed the safety of combining multiple stimulating additives with caffeine, particularly for young adults and that they remain unsatisfied by the FDA’s findings last month...
