Brazil's Chevron, Transocean Operations Ban Gets Court OK

Law360, New York (September 12, 2012, 8:06 PM EDT) -- Brazil's highest appeals court has denied a request by regulators to modify an August order banning Chevron Corp. and Transocean Ltd. from operating in Brazil because of oil spills last November and this March, Transocean said Wednesday.

Transocean said Brazil's Superior Court of Justice — the country's highest court for nonconstitutional federal law questions — denied a request by Brazil's National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, known as ANP, to suspend a preliminary injunction barring Transocean and Chevron from operating in the country. ...
