Medicaid Expansion Refusals May Affect Hospital Cuts: CMS

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 5:09 PM EDT) -- Federal health regulators told hospital officials Thursday that a state's decision on whether to expand Medicaid would factor into how much that state's hospitals would see in cuts to payments for uncompensated care, acknowledging a major concern under the health law.

Cindy Mann, director of the Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program, said during a conference call that factors affecting uncompensated care would be considered when distributing the cuts.
